Invisalign® treatment has become the #1 preferred method for straightening teeth.
Are you considering Invisalign®?
Do you have questions that need to be answered before you can decide?
We have put together the top five questions our patients ask about this revolutionary orthodontic treatment, which are probably the same questions you are asking!
1. How does Invisalign® work?
Invisalign® came about because people needed an alternative to metal braces.
While traditional braces are very effective at straightening teeth, many teens and adults find the bulky metal brackets and wires hard to fit into their active lifestyles.
Something less obtrusive was needed.
Invisalign® uses a series of digitally designed clear polymer trays or aligners to shift your teeth into their optimum position. The trays are exchanged for the next in the series about every two weeks.
The first step is digital impressions of your teeth. Then, a special computer software program called ClinCheck® is used to map out the needed movement of each tooth to reach the correct position. The aligners are created using this information.
Dr. Zuroff will supervise your treatment and track the progress of your smile.
- Nearly invisible aligners that don’t interfere in your work, school, or social life
- The trays can be removed to eat, brush and floss, or for special occasions (i.e., school pictures)
- The aligner trays are comfortable to wear and are durable
- Invisalign® treatment is generally faster than metal braces
But, you may wonder, can Invisalign® be used for all types of orthodontic issues?
2. Is Invisalign® effective?
Invisalign® can be used whether you want to straighten your teeth or you have more complex orthodontic problems to resolve.
According to the official Invisalign® websiteOpens in Invisalign Website website, orthodontic cases that can be treated include:
- Overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite
- Gapped teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Crooked teeth
We see fabulous results with Invisalign® at our Kennewick orthodontist office every day with both our teen and adult patients.
In fact, two of Dr. Zuroff’s Invisalign® cases were featured on the official Invisalign® website!
3. Is Invisalign® expensive?
Invisalign® treatment generally costs about the same as treatment with traditional braces.
For those who have dental insurance, treatment with Invisalign® is often fully or partially covered under orthodontic care.
For those who don’t have dental insurance, we offer many payment options for your treatment, including a discount when you pay in full and a 0% in-house financing plan. We also accept CareCreditOpens in CareCredit website.
4. Will I need to wear a retainer after finishing treatment?
Keeping your straight smile, after all of your time and money invested in it, is essential.
Teeth have memory, and they will try to revert to their old positions. To protect against this relapse, it is recommended to wear a retainer.
The retainer is a lot like an aligner tray in look and feel.
How often will you have to wear it?
That depends on your unique orthodontic needs. A typical retainer schedule involves gradually lessening the need for wearing one, such as:
- 12 to 22 hours the first six months after you’ve finished treatment
- Nighttime only for the next 6 to 12 months
- Only 3 to 5 times a night after one year
Dr. Zuroff will be able to let you know the exact schedule for your specific needs.
5. Can any orthodontist perform treatment with Invisalign®?
Actually, no. An orthodontist needs to have specialized training to be able to treat patients with Invisalign®.
Dr. Jay Zuroff is a Gold Plus Invisalign® ProviderOpens in Invisalign website. This means he has successfully treated hundreds of cases with Invisalign® in the Tri-Cities area with a wide variety of orthodontic issues.
