For Children
It is best for the orthodontist to see children by age seven to determine if and when treatment would be necessary. We will analyze things such as jaw development, thumb-sucking, crossbites, and speech impediments.

New Patient FAQs

It takes about an hour. At this exam we will take records (photos and xrays, if necessary), Dr. Zuroff will examine your teeth, present the treatment plan options and review financials including insurance coverage.
We accept most all dental insurance carriers, however at this time we are only able to accept state insurance for cleft palate/cleft lip patients.

It is recommended that patients first come see an orthodontist around age 7. At this time we are able to evaluate to see what things might be a concern in the future.
We treat every patient individually with their own personalized treatment plan. We have no set cost for braces.
We can evaluate TMJ symptoms to see if orthodontic therapy could be beneficial. However, a referral to a TMJ specialist is often needed.

Current Patient FAQs

Go ahead, we’ve heard it all.

Braces

Call the office and we will instruct you further. Sometimes it can wait until the next appointment and other times we need to see the patient to evaluate the problem.
Foods to avoid include: all sticky or hard candy, popcorn, nuts, hard granola bars or chips. Also, foods that we typically bite off should be cut into pieces prior to eating such as apples, corn on the cob, ribs, carrots, etc.
Wax is a great temporary fix until patient is able to make it into the office and have the wire clipped. There is wax in the patient kit received when braces were placed.
The patient can try to put the wire back in the slot themselves. If unable to put it back in simply call office and we will set a time to fix the problem.

Invisalign

Call the office right away and we can instruct you further. If a patient has the next set in their possession they can try to see if the next one will fit otherwise, we may need to order a replacement for a fee.
Each time you remove your aligners to brush your teeth simply use your toothbrush to scrub any residue off the aligners. If there seems to be a lot of buildup or they seem “smelly” you can soak them in hydrogen peroxide. Just make sure to rinse well before putting back in your mouth.
You can take a nail file or emery board to help smooth out the edges. If that doesn’t work or you need assistance please call the office and we will get you in right away to fix the discomfort.

Retention

Call the office to schedule an appointment for a new impression. There is a replacement fee of $75 and $25 per each adjustment if necessary.
FOREVER…We recommend every night for 8 hours to reduce the risk of teeth shifting.
Call the office to schedule an appointment to have it rebonded. Most patients are provided a backup clear retainer for the lower, this can be worn until patient is able to make it in for an appointment. If the retainer comes out completely make sure to keep the wire. There is a replacement fee if the wire is lost.
Most people will simply scrub the retainer with their tooth brush each day. If there seems to be a lot of buildup or they seem “smelly” you can soak in hydrogen peroxide. Just make sure to rinse well before putting back in your mouth.
Call the office to schedule an appointment for a new impression after the work has been completed. There is a fee for new retainers.
